
Glen Campbell is finishing his final tour in Joliet at the Rialto Square Theater January 26th and 27th. He went on tour after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in June of last year. He is a country music icon that many will miss.
In his early career he worked beside many stars including Elvis Presley and Merle Haggard. He was also invited to tour with the Beach Boys an accomplishment for anyone of that time. He then went on to take part in many television guest appearances.
This opened the doors to many cameras. He was able to debut in his own show, filled with music and comedy. He also had the opportunity to star beside John Wayne in True Grit. During his time in show business he never forgot his love of music and managed to get a two number one hits, Rhinestone Cowboy and Southern Nights.
Campbell has deservingly been inducted in to the Country Music Hall of Fame. His life has been filled with music, movies and television tapings. He has contributed to country music giants throughout his career. His music has made an impact with country music placing him alongside country music icons.
This final concert is certain to fill people with sadness as they realize that they may never see him play live again. Hopefully they’ll also be filled with joy, knowing that they had the chance to see him one last time. Glen Campbell has been given the opportunity to know that he is on his last tour, many before him didn’t have that chance. Let the memory of his music and fans pull him through the dark days ahead.
